Rebecca Shaugnessy
Rebecca earned her Master’s degree in Experimental Psychology from The University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2003. Rebecca also holds a Masters degree from Alabama A&M’s Counseling Psychology. She is currently an Associate Licensed Counselor working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Rebecca was born and raised Catholic in Louisville, Kentucky. As a child she played outside as much as possible and played just enough piano to keep up with her lessons. As a teenager, alongside her love of athletics, was a desire to help people with their emotional challenges. While attending college at The University of Kentucky, she discovered the field of Psychology and graduated my Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1985. Two months after graduation, she got married and moved with my Air Force husband to Del Rio, Tx for a brief time and then to Alamogordo, NM. Rebecca was blessed to have worked with baby Chimpanzees at Holloman Air Force Base during her time in NM. In 1990, she moved to Houston, TX where Rebecca worked for the NASA life sciences contractor for the next nine years. In 1999, her family moved to Huntsville, AL with her two boys to be closer to her families in Louisville. Rebecca's graduate work was funded by NASA and she traveled to NASA in San Jose, CA to perform graduate project. Rebecca spent many years homeschooling and playing tennis. taking graduate counseling courses online at Liberty University. Rebecca believes in the holistic approach using techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.
